Laptops are available for student use at Crescent School. The use of technology to support curricular goals is central to the availability of the laptops.
If applicable, this policy also extends to other Crescent-owned portable devices, such as tablets, “phablets”, and any similar other Crescent-owned devices for use by students.
Only software provided by Crescent may be installed on a laptop provided by Crescent School. The installation of unlicensed software, downloaded music, games or videos is strictly prohibited. If a student corrupts the hard drive of their laptop through improper usage, the student or their parent/guardians will be obligated to pay the damage fine.
The student laptop will be issued only after the respective form (i.e: the Acceptable Computer Use contract) has been signed by the student and parents or guardians, and returned to Crescent School. From the time the laptop is issued to the student, they are responsible for the safe-keeping of the laptop. The student is solely responsible for any damage to the laptop caused by abuse or neglect on the part of the student.
When the student is issued the laptop, the student also receives other items (i.e., drives, power cords, cables, etc.).The student is responsible for these items in the same way that they are responsible for the laptop.
