List of 4 items.

  • Personal Computing Devices

Lower School students (Grades 3 – 6) are issued Chromebooks for use at school. Personal computing devices from home are not required in this division.

Students in Grades 7 to 12 are required to bring their own computing devices to class. Students may use the device of their choice—Mac, PC, laptop, and tablet—for taking notes, working on projects with classmates, completing assignments and doing homework. Any device with wireless capacity will work on Crescent’s system.

In all cases, students must comply with Crescent’s Acceptable Computer Use Contract, Laptop Use Policy, Cell Phone & Other Personal Electronic Devices Policy, and any other Crescent School policies or guidelines that Crescent School makes or updates.
  • Cameras

    Cameras
Students and parents should understand that students may not use cameras at School without a teacher’s advance consent. The use of cameras without the explicit consent of the individuals being photographed raises potentially serious concerns regarding privacy, harassment and cyber-bullying. The School will respond aggressively to these situations in order to protect the dignity and privacy of all members of the community.

This includes all cameras which can be attached to clothes or accessories, such as GoPros, unmanned remote-operated devices such as “drones”, and any wearable technology that can monitor, track or record.

Contravention of this Policy will result in appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Cell Phones & Other Personal Electronic Devices

Please see the Policies section of the Family Handbook to read Crescent's Cell Phone and Other Personal Electonic Devices Policy.

    Unauthorized Use
Unauthorized use of Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) includes, but is not limited to, the following:
    1. Possessing, viewing, sending or sharing video or audio information having sexual, violent or threatening content on school grounds, school events or school buses shall be prohibited and may result in appropriate disciplinary action and/or confiscation of the PED.
    2. Transmitting school materials for unethical purposes, such as cheating.
    3. “Leaking” or whistleblowing Crescent policies, test materials, Crescent materials, or confidential information belonging to Crescent.
    4. Recording anyone else without their express prior permission, and/or sharing recordings through any means (online, through social media applications, etc.) This includes temporary recordings made and shared on mobile applications such as Snapchat.
    5. Any activity which may be in violation of the School Code of Conduct or other Crescent rules.
    6. Any activity which violates the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any other person, or encourages anyone else to do so.
    7. Using PEDs to connect to the Crescent internet and technology network to do anything not otherwise permitted.
  • Materials & Textbooks

Students are expected to have the required materials (devices, texts, notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, calculators) ready before the start of every class. The student’s notes, desk, and surrounding area are his responsibility, and a high standard of neatness is expected.

In the Lower School, notebooks, classroom resources, and an agenda are provided by the school and charged to the Student Billing Account. Parents are given a list of supplies that they will need to purchase and send with the student on the first day of school.

Middle School students will need to supply their own textbooks. These can be purchased online through The Batner Bookstore or from other sources if you wish. Middle School students will receive a portfolio/computer bag, a lock, duo-tangs and standard supplies for each class. These items and a student agenda will be charged to their Student Billing Account. Students entering Crescent in Grade 8 will receive a calculator and pencil case. Families will be provided with a school supplies list that they will need to purchase before the beginning of the school year.

Likewise, Upper School students must provide their own textbooks, which can be purchased through The Batner Bookstore or from other sources.
