School Communication

Parent/School communication is key to a successful educational experience for the student. Communication can be formal (report cards, parent/teacher interviews, letters, mailings, e-newsletters) or informal (parent/teacher emails, phone conversations, chats in the hallway, notes in student agendas). Regardless of the format, opportunities for honest and open dialogue, and clear lines of communication, are essential.

List of 7 items.

  • Green Room

The Green Room is the Crescent community’s source for all important news and information. This is where you will find featured news stories, staff and student directories, the school calendar, school forms and resources related to academics, co-curricular activities, student life, Crescent Parent Association and more. The Green Room Photo Gallery offers photos of most major school events. The weekly lunch menu can be accessed from the Green Room. We recommend that parents check the Green Room regularly.

Parents are able to view their son’s daily class schedule and course lists can be viewed from the Green Room. Report cards, when published, are also accessed here. The Green Room calendar can be personalized to list team games and practices by student.
  • Schoology

Crescent uses the Schoology learning management platform. Schoology is where teachers post course-specific information including course notes and resources, student work portfolios, discussion boards and a homework dropbox, so students and parents can stay up to date with class work.

Students and parents can access Schoology through the Resource section of the Green Room. The Schoology login does not synchronize with the Green Room login. All Crescent families will be given login instructions on or before the first day of school.
  • Weekly What's Up Email

When school is in session, you will receive a Weekly What's Up email. This email contains important school information and upcoming events. It is a vital component of our connection and parent-school partnership.

WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ THIS MESSAGE EACH AND EVERY WEEK SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION.

Current families receive an email newsletter, Crescent Connect, once a month from September to June (March excluded). Crescent Connect shares news and events of interest to the full school community.

Past & Present is Crescent School’s official alumni magazine. It is published twice a year and mailed to alumni as well as all current families. • Grade-Specific WhatsApp Groups

Each year, the CPA facilitates grade-specific WhatsApp groups to make it easy for Crescent families to share important updates, organize events, or address grade-related topics. Please take note of the following:
    • Chat groups are not monitored by the Crescent administration. Parents should reach out directly to the school administration regarding matters or concerns related to the school and not use this forum for that purpose.
    • Chat groups are not meant to provide information that is readily available in the Weekly What's Up or the Green Room. Please always read the information provided by the school.
    • To ensure a positive environment for all, Crescent’s Code of Conduct applies to all WhatsApp communication with the expectation that parents will support, model, and maintain respectful and appropriate communications on the platform at all times. Breaches of this conduct will be brought to the attention of the School’s Administration.
    • Grade Parents have helped set up the groups but they are not responsible for answering questions posted in the chat.
