Promotion to Higher Grades

PROMOTION TO GRADE 8

The standards for promotion from Grade 7 to Grade 8 are:

Academic

An overall average of 65% or better with no failures. The 65% will be calculated using the average grade of the student’s core courses (Math, English, Science, History/Geo and French). The individual’s grades for his other courses may be taken into consideration.
The student is adequately committed to the process of his education. (Regular homework completion, generally sound organization skills, and engagement in the life of the classroom and school community.)

Character

A clear understanding of Crescent School’s core values and a consistent, sincere attempt to model them. No major conduct issues requiring formal consequences, nor a pattern of less serious but ongoing issues on record.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn from mistakes.

PROMOTION TO THE UPPER SCHOOL

The standards for promotion from Middle School to Upper School are:

Academic

An overall average of 65% or better with no failures. The 65% will be calculated using the average grade of the student’s core courses (Math, English, Science, History and French). The individual’s grades for his other courses may be taken into consideration.
The student is adequately committed to the process of his education. (Regular homework completion, generally sound organization skills, and engagement in the life of the classroom and school community.)

Character
