University counselling and guidance support is provided through the Guidance and University Counsellors. As boys enter Grade 9, they will be assigned to a Guidance & University Counsellor who will work with them through the duration of their Upper School experience. They will counsel the boys in their course selection from Grades 9 through 12, with an eye to university, to ensure that post-secondary opportunities are researched and investigated.
As boys begin to think about the next chapter of their academic journey, the Guidance and University Counsellors will support them through every stage of their university exploration. They will help identify programs that provide the “best individual fit” matching each boy’s strengths, interests and aspirations. Counsellors will coach boys through the university application process to Canadian, American and UK/overseas universities. A writing coach isavailable within the school for additional support with the application process.
If families choose to independently employ the services of outside consultants to support their son in the US application process, the guidance and university counsellors will work with families and students to ensure that all deadlines are met. The school is responsible for transmitting information such as counsellor and teacher references, transcripts and other reports on Naviance to the universities. For this reason, it is imperative that we work together as a team and communication at all levels is key. In the event that you are working with an outside consultant please ensure that contact information is provided to the counsellor.
