Types of Employees

Regular full-time employees have a continuing appointment with the School at 100% FTE (full-time equivalent) and are entitled to participate in the School’s benefits programs with Class “A” Benefits.

Regular part-time employees have a continuing appointment with the School at less than 100% FTE. Eligibility for pension and benefits is dependent upon their FTE.

Contract employees are employed for a defined period of time and have a predetermined end date at which time their employment will terminate. Full-time contract employees are eligible for Class “B” benefits (health and dental only) if their contract is greater than one year. Other contract employees are not eligible for benefits through the School unless otherwise stated in their contract of employment.

Sessional employees hold positions for which the School requires staffing only during the academic session or part thereof.

Supply teachers are employed on an occasional basis and are not entitled to benefits through the School.

Casual employees are Administrative or Facilities employees who work on an occasional basis. Their employment is governed by the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (the “ESA”) and their employment contract. They are paid hourly and they are not eligible for benefits.
