Professional Development

Our teachers attend conferences and seminars to support diversity education, address implicit bias and empower faculty and student leaders. We arrange staff education workshops and bring in speakers such as Rachael Flores, an expert on diversity, inclusion, and multicultural pedagogy. Faculty-led panel discussions with our Black Student Alliance help our teachers understand the lived experience of our students of colour.

Since 2016, Crescent has sent a number of faculty, staff and student delegates to attend the annual People of Color Conference, organized by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

It provides a space for leadership and professional development and networking for people of color and allies of all backgrounds in independent schools. It equips educators with knowledge, skills, and experiences to improve and enhance the interracial, interethnic, and intercultural climate in their schools, as well as the attending academic, social-emotional, and workplace performance outcomes for students and adults alike.
