Crescent spearheaded a variety of Outreach initiatives between November and January that were enthusiastically supported by school families and community members. With the Winter Break behind us, the donation numbers are in.
The holiday season kicked off with a fundraiser from the Crescent Parent Association. The
Holiday Angel Program raised over $25,000 for six families in need who were selected by New Circles.
Home Forms and Mentor Groups got behind the Holiday Cheer initiative in a big way supporting numerous programs and organizations. Eighteen Mentor Groups from the Middle and Upper Schools collected donations for the
Shoebox Project for Women, assembling 52 gift boxes filled with a mix of essential everyday items and small luxuries. Executive Director of The Shoebox Project Rosie Smythe shared her thanks, saying “Your thoughtful packages are more than just gifts—they are reminders that people care.”
In support of
Moorelands Kids Camp and Programs, we raised $1,500 to support their Send a Kid to Camp program, Movie and Mitts initiative, and camp gear for the next season.
The Holiday Cheer initiatives ended in December but our community generosity kept going.
In January, the school’s Outreach teams made a difference for two meaningful organizations.
Crescent Town Elementary serves students from JK to Grade 4 and
Out of the Cold supports various community outreach programs in the Danforth neighbourhood. Our community filled approximately 22 large bags for both organizations with donations of boots, mitts, toques, gloves, sweaters and other warm clothing.
“As we embrace these colder winter days, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the compassion, thoughtfulness, and positive impact we've had on so many people, even those we may never meet,” says Director of Outreach Justin Chau. “Every action counts.”
