Dr. Michael Warner ’96 received the Alumni Excellence Award, which honours alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professional careers, personal endeavors, and community service.
As the Medical Director of Critical Care at Toronto’s Michael Garron Hospital, Michael is recognized by many as a leader during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020, he quickly emerged as a voice of the pandemic response, maintaining a clear and consistent message through his media appearances and social media videos. It is widely believed that Michael goes above and beyond his duties by being unafraid to speak up when he feels things are not being managed effectively. He was instrumental in organizing a PPE drive at Michael Garron Hospital which expanded across the country. Michael has shared his experiences both as a patient advocate and frontline physician with Crescent students, teachers and alumni.
