Our Approach to Developing Character

Our students are inheriting a world that is volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. At a time when it's difficult to predict what the world will be like tomorrow, how can we predict what the world will be like a decade from now? And how do we prepare our students for that uncertain world?

Our answer? Character. Character development is at the heart of what we do, woven deeply into the fabric of a Crescent education. We've identified 12 essential character qualities that define our Portrait of a Graduate. These qualities are thoughtfully embedded in our curriculum using research-driven methods, ensuring they are integral to our students' learning experiences. To stay at the forefront of educational innovation, we proudly partner with the Center for Curriculum Redesign, a globally recognized nonprofit that equips us with the latest research and best practices.

Crescent is moving to an evidence-based assessment of character development in our classrooms. Educators interested in learning how this is being done may contact CCBE@crescentschool.org.
