Formal Recognition for Formal Garden Donors

A significant donation by the Crescent Parent’s Association (CPA) was recognized officially with the recent unveiling of a commemorative plaque in the Formal Garden. The plaque installation was the crowning touch to refurbishing the Formal Garden, made possible by the CPA’s $500,000 pledge to Phase 1 of Crescent’s Master Campus Plan. The donation represents half of the $1 million pledge announced in 2021; a $500,000 commitment to the CPA Centennial Scholarship that provides financial assistance to support Upper School students comprises the remainder.

The Formal Garden underwent a significant refurbishment in the summer of 2022. That was when a grasslike turf was installed, transforming the garden’s surface into a lush yet virtually indestructible lawn. The result was a more beautiful and safer play area for students. It also resolved issues around water management and slope stabilization.

Four past CPA presidents—Matilda Mavroudis P’18, 26, Andrea Bunker P’20, 22, 25, Magda Koinis-Tsagogeorgas P’26 and Sherri Neldner P’23, 25, 28—and current president Jacintha Doner P’23, 25 attended the plaque unveiling ceremony. “Thanks to the CPA leaders before me and our incredible team of volunteers, we are close to completing our fundraising goal in advance of our pledge deadline,” says CPA President Jacintha Doner P’23, P’25.  “Our vibrant parent community gives so much of their time, generosity and spirit, making us unique. We couldn’t be more proud to exceed our goal.”

“We are extremely fortunate to have such a committed parent community at Crescent,” says Headmaster Michael Fellin P’24. “This is an exciting juncture in Crescent’s history, and I am delighted that the CPA plays such a generous role in supporting our mission.”

The CPA is a volunteer organization representing all parents of Crescent students. Its mission is to work in partnership with Crescent School to build Crescent's unique sense of community through social, fundraising and outreach initiatives.
