Wall of Honour—Rob Coleman
While at Crescent, Rob was the editor of the Yearbook, started the first Animation Club and was enrolled in the first set of computer courses offered at Crescent. These early experiences spawned an interest which led Rob to become a world specialist in the art of computer character animation.
After graduation, he entered the Journalism program at Carleton University, transferring the following year to Concordia University where he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Film Animation. He soon realized that this was something he wanted do for the rest of his life.
Rob worked in a variety of capacities for several studios, but it was when he saw the dinosaurs in the movie Jurassic Park that he knew Industrial Light and Magic was his next destination. One of his most memorable career moments was the day he was hired by the company.
His first big project was Dragonheart, involving the most sophisticated computer facial animation ever attempted to that point in time. Rob went on to work on Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award in March 2000.
