School Nurse 416-449-2556 x252
The Wellness Centre is located on the lower level close to the Lower School. The school's registered nurses are on duty Monday to Friday from 8 a.m.—4 p.m. and are responsible for the co-ordination of all health related aspects of school life at Crescent. The nurses help with monitoring morning calls regarding illness, personal concerns, allergies, injuries, illness occurring at school and the administration of medication during school hours.
First aid supplies, crutches and over the counter medications are available from the Wellness Centre. Screening for head lice in the Lower School is scheduled three times a year. A nurse will contact parents/guardians if a student needs to go home during school hours due to illness. We recommend that your son be kept at home if he is ill in the morning and will not be able to function in class. Missed work may be made up upon his return.
The school's registered nurses are qualified to handle emergency medical problems or sports injuries that occur during the school day. Parents/guardians will be notified and given recommendations for referral for further medical attention, either by your family doctor or at an Emergency Room. A confidential medical file for every student is kept in the Welness Centre. This is updated yearly with current medical information and emergency contact numbers.
Crescent School is considered to be a nut-free/peanut-safe environment. This means there will be no known foods or snacks served or brought into the school that contain peanuts, peanut by-products or nuts. The purpose of our policy and procedures is to ensure the safety of anaphylactic children in a school setting by minimizing the risk of exposure and ensuring rapid response to anaphylactic emergencies. For further information about this please contact a school nurse.
