Academics
Philosophy and Vision
The Middle School years of a young adolescent boy represent a unique and often complex time. That is why, at Crescent, we focus on nurturing and developing the whole boy. The Middle School faculty strives to do this by creating authentic and trusting relationships with each boy in every class. Research suggests that young adolescent boys experience greater success with their academics when they have developed strong relationships with their teachers. In the Crescent Middle School, our goal is to foster meaningful relationships with our students while creating challenging and effective academic programs. This allows each student to discover his passions, to develop a love for life-long learning and ultimately, be prepared for the Upper School and life beyond Crescent as he discovers his own path to character.
Details
At Crescent School we follow and exceed the expectations of the Ministry of Education for Ontario. The academic program in the Middle School promotes 21st century learning in a 21st century building: the newly built Lau Family Wing. Our innovative programs are based on research, and are created by a dedicated team of teachers who understand young adolescent boys and their individual needs. The faculty strives to create dynamic and differentiated programs that meet the needs of each student. Every boy will be exposed to a multi-faceted landscape that allows him to find his passions and the learning skills that work for him. This is achieved by focusing more on the learning process and less on the product. Students are given opportunities to develop as innovative, inquisitive, and creative learners as they discover how to collaborate as positive members of a team. Finally, each boy is celebrated for his work and his work ethic as he is guided academically and emotionally on his journey to becoming a Man of Character.
