Our Upper School is small by design, allowing us to know and understand each student , and to provide the kind of program and support that responds to his individual needs, strengths and passions.

 

Library Staff

 

Trish Cislak, Head of Libraries and Information Literacy

 

Trish has the pleasure of working with the boys and teachers in the Middle and Upper Schools. She team- teaches with a number of teachers and within a variety of subject areas. Trish believes in the promotion of reading as a life-long skill and a priority amongst MS and US boys. As well as being a Grade 7 Mentor, Trish coaches the Grade 7 & 8 Kids' Lit Quiz Team, and is a consultant to the Readers' Advisory Group for the US. Trish will continue to hone research strategies as a Team Advisor for the International Boys’ School Coalition Action Research program, supporting 14 teacher-researchers from around the world with their work to enhance best practices in boys' education.

Elizabeth Ford

 

Elizabeth Ford is the Teacher-Librarian for the Lower School. You can find her in the newly built Margaret Donnelly Library where many different styles of learning are encouraged; classroom, small group, individual, and outdoor learning. She team-teaches with the classroom teachers to promote research and information literacy skills. Elizabeth coaches the Kids' Lit Quiz team for the Lower School, the Scrabble Club for grades 5 and 6, and runs the Dads' Read book club for grade 3 and 4 students and their fathers.

Michael Tamburo

 

Michael Tamburro is the Crescent School Library and Archives Technician. Previous to joining Crescent school Michael worked for the Toronto Public Library and as a journalist with various media outlets including The Globe and Mail and the CBC. Michael is the staff moderator of the student newspaper 'The Voice' and is currently working on a special project to digitize the school archives in celebration of Crescent Schools 100th Year Anniversary.

Lisa Elchuk

 

Lisa Elchuk is the Library Technician for the Crescent School Libraries. Prior to her arrival at Crescent, Lisa has worn many a media hat through-out her professional career. She has worked on various films and television series, most famously (or infamously!) the SAW films. Lisa has also worked for one of Canada's biggest broadcasters, rubbing noses with some amazing digital folks. Lisa is excited to combine her film and digital knowledge with her love of books and libraries to help make every experience at the Crescent Libraries enjoyable!
